Person detection and track monitoring are one of the main challenges faced by the railway companies today. Real-time object detection with distance measurement can prevent incidents, increase safety and increase system reliability. We utilised LiDAR sensor and Video Cameras fusion to develop and demonstrate a more reliable and accurate real-time person detection and distance measurement algorithms. The system can be installed on the passenger trains, locomotives, and other railway vehicles, providing safe, secure and accurate surveillance and monitoring.
